c-h-i-l-d is the ish man…
“I'll always be childish, call me Maggie Simpson”, Bitch Look at Me Now, Childish Gambino
FACK, I love that song.
It reminds me of how important it is to do childish things.
Not like poop in the bathtub or punch your brother in the face kind of things (IYKYK)…
The things you did as a child that brought you pure joy.
One of my other favorite lines from this song is,
I did this in my bedroom where I separate my laundry, watchin' old episodes of Shining Time Station, you are now listening to my mouth on vacation.
My mouth on vacation, hell yes.
What activities did you do as a kid that made your soul feel like it was on vacation?
I hear so often from clients that they feel pulled to do something they loved as a kid but stop themselves because it “doesn't make sense” or they don't see how they could make money doing that.
Grow the F down…become childish. It will bring you so much joy. You don't need an excuse to feel free and joyous.
When I work with someone in the beginning, one thing we focus on is JOY.
What brought you joy as a kid? What would bring you joy now?
Joy is the arrow that points to all good things. The right jobs, moves, and relationships.
It's ok if you don't know or forgot. Just start paying attention. Ask your inner child what would bring you joy today or this week?
Go play!
If you want guidance on finding your joy again, book a session with me by responding to this email!
