the holy waiting period…

I believe there is a holy waiting period between claiming what you want and manifesting what you want into your reality. 

The duration of this period is measured not in time but in the strength of your self-trust and self-worth.

There's a pattern I've noticed in both myself and clients and it goes a little something like this:

1. Getting clear on what you want and claiming it (this is a process in and of itself as it takes some finesse to determine what your heart wants and what you've been taught to want).

2. Jolt of anticipatory excitement about new possibilities for the future yay!! (for maybe the first time, you are putting yourself first and going after what YOU want)

3. Things get harder than you thought they would be (enter stage right: self-doubt, fear, and insecurity).

4. The actualization of your heart's desire.

Here is the sad truth: Most people give up in the holy waiting period.

They have ANOTHER bad dating experience. They can't sell a painting. Someone tells them their idea is unrealistic, etc.

They take these challenges to mean that maybe they aren't meant for partnership or maybe they aren't meant to be an artist. Thoughts creep in about how their ideal person wouldn't want them anyways. Or their ideal person doesn't even exist. Or how there are so many better painters out there than them - maybe this can just be a hobby. 

Do you see what's happening? They doubt their ability to know what they want and they start to believe they aren't good enough for it either. 

The holy waiting period isn't meant to torture you (though it does sort of sound like a maniacal comcast agent has you on an everlasting hold). 

It's meant to help you strengthen your ability to trust yourself. To trust that the desires in your heart come from your soul, are good, and are meant to be. 

It's meant to strengthen your self-worth - your belief that you are good enough and worthy of this partnership or this career or this dream.

This matters because without self-trust and self-worth, the things we want can't come into our orbit, or if they do, we can't hold on to them.
